Balearics
The Balearic archipelago consists of four large islands and a few smaller islets. Each island has its own personality and characteristics that make it worth choosing. Among the islets, Cabrera with its national park and Espalmador are worth a day trip departing from the major islands.
The beaches of the Balearics are legendary and are among the most photographed beaches in the world. The water is wonderful and is colored in all shades of blue: celestial and Caribbean in some beaches, greener in the coves surrounded by the Mediterranean scrub, blue where it is deeper, but always clear and incredibly transparent.
BEACHES OF MAJORCA
Mallorca is the largest island. Its main city, Palma de Mallorca, is a real city that has about 500,000 inhabitants and which has museums, contemporary art, Art Nouveau buildings, a wonderful cathedral and many other things to see. Majorca, also known as Mallorca, has a hinterland furrowed by paths for walking and countless cycling routes. While the hinterland and the smaller villages offer glimpses and landscapes where it seems to be out of the world and from civilization, the major towns of the coast are lively and very touristy in summer. The island is so busy that Mallorca's airport is the third most important in Spain after Barcelona and Madrid. There are many beaches, both in the city and outside the city. The sea water tends to be light blue or turquoise and the beach clear, both when it is mixed with gravel and when it is sandy like talcum powder.
BEACHES OF MENORCA
Menorca, 2 hours by ferry from Mallorca, is a small island less frequented by mass tourism than its larger neighbor. In Menorca the coast is so indented that it creates endless coves and coves. In the north, the beaches are darker, while in the south they are a bit wider and Caribbean-looking. Cala Escorxada and cala en Turqueta are just some of the most beautiful beaches in Menorca. Even in the middle of August it will not be difficult to find a solitary or semi-solitary beach or a cove unofficially dedicated to naturism.
BEACHES OF IBIZA
Ibiza is the Balearic island associated with fun and the craziest nightlife. It is true that in Ibiza there are some of the most important discos in Europe and it is true that the aperitif with music on the beach is almost a religion. But it is also true that in Ibiza there is a lot of unspoiled nature, there are lonely coves, nature trails and crazy sunsets.
BEACHES OF FORMENTERA
Formentera is less than thirty minutes by ferry from Ibiza. It is considered the chic island of the Balearics because it is chosen by famous people, VIPs and sportsmen as a destination for their holidays. Why do they choose Formentera every year? Because the beaches and the sea of the island are among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean and in certain corners of Formentera it seems to be in the Caribbean, but a few hours by plane from any European city. Formentera is the perfect island to discover on foot, on the island there are numerous itineraries to follow.
Especially on the islet of Espalmador, the sand is so white that it almost hurts the eyes.
